Angel’s Trumpet
Oil on Canvas – SOLD
University Club opening reception
September 26, 2021
I approach every exhibition with trepidation. I wasn’t sure how the day would go. In fact, I almost did not submit to this group show with the Take Five Artists. I did not have a lot of available paintings. At the last minute I put together paintings that were slated for another show. I am glad I did.

I selected a handful of my American Bar Series paintings. Half were of local establishments, others of bars in Key West and New Orleans. Angel’s Trumpet is a bar in Phoenix on 2nd Ave just off of Roosevelt. The name derives from the owner’s surname, Angelhorn – you get it.
A group of art patrons that had never heard of any of our group just happened to attend the opening. Before long I had an inflated ego as I was told how much they liked my painting.

We will be back at the U Club in March 2022 with a new show, new work. I don’t know what I will have – I do have two new large paintings, on still on the easel, of local bar scenes. I also have a slew of abstracts. And I have a head full of ideas that I have yet to lay out on canvas. Time will tell.
